Personally do you believe in Ghosts?
Sorry if this is a little long but it’s true story’s based on my family experiences

I’m not going to lie, but through sometime in my life i have experienced different occasions of ghost related things. In my first home back when i was a child, my brother told me that he heard noises out the back yard of bins moving and he once heard the sound of clicking hooves of a horse. He said he looked out the window but there wasn’t anything there. In my second home i have also witnessed some crazy things, like one halloween the light swictch in the kitchen, my dad pressed it and it went through. I also seen a black figure at the corner of my eye at the front door of the house, my brother totally believed me because i was really freaked out, he ran up the stairs looking for someone to see if anyone had intruded in our home. My brother then told me one time that a man who had sold us a tv one time had died recently during the time of the incident. My mother had been drinking one night in the house and she locked herself in the toilet, my bro was sleeping in the living room at this time and my mom shouted paul!, open the door, and he shouted aw for fuck sake! then the door suddenly unlocked itself, and my mom shouted thanks paul.

My brother was staying at a home he had rented out next to my first home i was living in, he watched the movie ‘The exorcist’ with my brother and his friend. They turned up the volume full to get the perfect horror experience, nobody else was in the house at this time despite them. 30 minutes into the film there heard really loud footsteps on the ground upstairs, thumping noises really loud. My brother was so scared because they all heard it, so he ran out of the house really fast, shouting open the fucking door, because my brother locked it, he then ran home in fright.

I am now at my third home right now.. and recently i have heard some scary things happening, my front door of the house has been slamming shut by itself, we all currently think it may be a next door neighbor, but it’s too unconvincing, the slamming had continued constantly and there is no solution, it cant be the wind because out front door is relatively strong and heavy. and nobody was in the house besides my dad, me and my brother.

Now i’ve came to realise that next door across the road to me, in my brothers shed which he has been working in for quite some time, is known to be haunted, i heard that a man attempting to rob the place was electric shocked and he had died suddenly, and a past worker in the shed had went over to turn of the machine he was working on and it had been plugged out of the socket, with nobody else there.

I think all this stuff is definitely paranormal activity related, there’s no other solution. I’m 16 years old and have a family of 9. I’m not particularly scared, I’m actually rather intrigued. Do you believe what i have been previously describing, is ghost really real?

Thanks for your time..

Ok, lets get this straight. I did not read all your literature to support your belief in ghosts. On the other hand I do believe in ghosts because I’ve experienced strange paranormal activity. There’s nothing in this world that can change my mind about that. From visiting cemeteries to feeling that strange feeling you get when you feel something is there, I’ve had these feelings countless times. My cousin is a paranormal investigator, he also made me further believe in ghosts. I believe that most spirits seen here are incomplete ones, meaning that they never finished their life out for whatever reasons. Some people die and just pass on. Others die and never totally leave here, because somethings making them unrested. I truly believe that ghosts do greatly exist and have a method for showing themselves, or should I say haunting places. A spirit at rest will pass on, and will be relieved, one that’s not at rest will continue to linger until its made to rest or understands that its there time. Understanding this makes me further believe that their is some unity after death. It surpasses all living existence and puts living humans in the past. The present is whats happening now, and the future is something we all must come to terms with, death. Understanding this leads you to believe that there is something else out there after you die. Because not all energy on earth is at a stand still for a given time. I do believe in ghosts in a spiritual nature as well as a scientific one.

The start of my short story. I am tring to show and not tell?
Hi, this is a re-post as some people said it wasn’t descriptive enough and I was telling not showing. I have tried to fix it up. So, what do you think?

Sean walked deeper and deeper into the forest, the fallen leaves crunching under his shoes. The trees huddled around him and their bare twigs pointed at him as if they were long skeletal fingers. The old man said to wait when he found the grave. The old grey gravestone sat alone under a towering tree covered in moss, the writing engraved so long ago that it was only just visible now. The mist covering the night sky was not helping Sean?s vision either. Squinting his baby blue eyes his hand ran down the headstone and dusted off the dirt. With every sweep of his hand a new faded letter appeared. Sean noticed how the letters seemed to spell out a name he was very familiar with. His own.

How could this be? It was not possible. The date on the gravestone said the boy died in 1601. Sean stumbled back trying to take in what he had just seen. Falling over dead twigs that lay strewn across the damp overgrown grass he was stopped from tipping over by a hand being placed on his back.

?There is no need to be scared, boy,? said Tudor.

?You said I was here to help you fight,? said Sean.

The old man was short and wore a black cape that flowed down to his bony ankles. His thick black hair was wavy and pinned back with a band. The lines on his face the only evidence of his age. He took Sean back to the grave and told him to kneel before it.

?You are here to fight, my boy,? Tudor said. ?Our world needs you, Lucian, has taken the dragons and closed down the portal to allow anyone entrance to our world. Our people will die without you.?

?Why bring me here then,? Sean said, pointing to the grave. ?And how are you here??

?I escaped to find you,? Tudor said. ?You have fought well for us in the past. You?re the only hope for our people. The last time, Lucian defeated you but I knew it wouldn?t be long before he came back and in return bring you back also.?

stop saying ’said’
Dave Grohl! | Feb 06, 2010

this is a very well written story..
GGIRLXoXo | Feb 06, 2010

You keep saying ’said’ a lot. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it would be more… captivating if you would use other words like ‘explained’ or ‘asked’ or you know.
Oh, and I don’t think it is telling at all. Very good!
Adinaa | Feb 06, 2010

You don’t say said alot, you say it 5 times. However, because they’re close together, it appears to be a lot and is easily noticable.

Show don’t tell is an inaccurate way to describe the process. An easier way is to think of your story as a break down of ’snipets’. Every time something changes in the story, you have snipet.

"He walked down the road, and saw a car" <— there are two snipets, two events which have happened. With each snipet, you should explain HOW it changes the previous snipet.

"His legs ached as he walked down the road, and upon seeing a car drive past, he wished he hadn’t lost his license". You see, here I don’t SAY what is going on, but I SHOW how an aditional snipet changed the story. Granted, it’s not the best piece of writing, but it’s off the top of my head ;-) I showed that my character walked down the road, because I added a snipet to show his legs ached. I showed a car was coming, as I added a snipet to show my characters attitude.

I hope this helps. Your idea looks promising, maybe you can go through each sentence, and work out - is it a snipet (describing an additional change) or a sentence (simply saying something happened)

Best wishes =)
_jack_ | Feb 06, 2010

good work! A minor point is the bony ankles. Is the old one barefoot?
Also, the last sentence doesn’t work..Make it two sentences.” The last time, Lucian defeated you”. Perhaps it could read "I knew …came back and, in returning, bring you back also”.
LavaCake | Feb 06, 2010

I liked it, but as some other people had mentioned, you did say ’said’ alot. If it is a conversation between two people you don’t need to keep saying ’said’ and mabye you could explain their emotions afte their dialoige. For example "But why?" John was franticly piecing everything together. Dosen’t that sound more dramatic than "But why?" Said John.
Also mabye the old man could visit more than one person to help close the portals. Juat add in short chapters when he is asking them. Makes more suspense.
Dr.Jimmy | Feb 06, 2010

No, no, no, no, NO! Don’t listen to the people telling you not to use "said" for dialogue. "Said" is what the professionals use, and they use it because it’s invisible. Words like "explained" or "observed" or "agreed" draw attention to themselves and away from the dialogue. You don’t need to say that a character explains something, for example, because it should be obvious from his words alone - and if it’s not, reword the dialogue until it is.

With that out of the way, I think it’s an improvement, but there’s still work to be done.

"The trees huddled around him and their bare twigs pointed at him as if they were long skeletal fingers." -> "The trees huddled around him, their bare twigs pointing at him like long skeletal fingers." (For example.)

It jars to learn that Sean’s eyes are baby blue - he wouldn’t be thinking about what colour his eyes are at this point.

It doesn’t really add anything to have him reveal the name on the headstone one letter at a time, because the reader can’t see the name appearing. I’d just say he wiped the dirt off and puzzled out the name.

Without knowing Sean’s surname, it doesn’t seem unusual that the name on the grave would be his own. I have a fairly rare surname, but there are at least four other people alive today with the same name as me. Does the year of birth on the stone correspond with Sean’s own, perhaps? Or the place he was born? Gravestones often give the names of parents and any children the deceased may have had. Perhaps those names are the same as those of his family? Or how about some phrase that’s meaningful to him, like a family motto? Or if the family has a coat of arms or some sort of mascot, maybe that’s carved on the stone.

How does Sean know that the old man has bony ankles? Are his trousers too short? If you want to show that he’s thin, it would be more plausible to have Sean notice that about his hands or his face.

Just a few thoughts. Keep writing.

EDIT: Only answered half the question… I think you’ve done a reasonable job of showing instead of telling. Those saying you have lots of "saids" close together may have a point, but there are far worse sins you could commit. And even then, the solution is still not to replace half of them with more exotic verbs.

When there are only two people talking, you can get away with having the dialogue on its own for some paragraphs. For instance:

"Blah," said A.
"Blah blah," said B.
"Sausages."
"Mushrooms."
"Badger," said A.

If the reader is paying attention, it’s obvious that A said "Sausages" and B said "Mushrooms."

The alternative is to put a character’s action into the same paragraph as some of his dialogue. The reader will assume that the same character is speaking as did the action. For example:

?Why bring me here then?? Sean pointed to the grave. ?And how are you here??

Or:

Sean pointed to the grave. "Why bring me here, then? And how are you here?"
Steve | Feb 06, 2010

in response to the person who told you to "Stop saying said" it is best to use "said" instead of other words like declared or exclaimed. usually the word "Said" usually disappears into the background. so keep using it! i think your story is very interesting and very good with description. it paints a picture!

Please explain to me how the New Testament does not teach that women are subservient to women?
and must be submissive and not carry authority over man?

1Tim 2:1 - First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

1 Pet 3:7? You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

1Cor 11:9 - For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man; for indeed man was not created for the woman’s sake, but woman for the man’s sake.

1 Cor 11:7 - For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.

1 Cor 14:34 ? The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says.

Tit 2:3 ? Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

1Tim 2:11-15 ? A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

Did you mean "women are subservient to women"? Or did you actually mean "to men"?
Ethan Rae | Feb 06, 2010

Don’t worry you don’t have to be subservient , most of us don’t need any fawning
O? | Feb 06, 2010

On the other hand…

The first person to see the resurrected Christ was a woman (John 20:15-18). The first European convert was a woman (Acts 16:14). The only followers of Jesus to stand with Him in his crucifixion were women. There were woman in the upper room and anointed with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:14, 2:1-4). Jesus was born to an earthly mother, but not an earthly father(Matt. 1:18,etc.). Only a woman understood Christ’s upcoming death (Mark 14:8).

These actions show that women played a part as crucial to Christ’s ministry as the men. (In fact, if someone was "making up" stories for their new religion, as has been charged to the writers of the New Testament, they certainly wouldn’t have the women as the only ones brave enough to stand at Calvary or the first ones at the empty tomb. Remember, a woman’s testimony was inadmissible in a court of law, so the incident not only makes the disciples look bad, but actually undermines from their assertion that it happened at all! Luke 24:11 states that even the disciples thought their story was "nonsense, and they would not believe them." This is actually a benefit in proving the validity of the Gospel account.)

Now let’s examine what the Bible says about women and their position:

In Galatians 3:28 the scriptures explicitly state that women hold a position of equal value and importance to men: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." When the Messiah was born, He was presented to the prophetess Anna as well as Simeon, again showing the equality of importance in women as well as men. This scripture does not mean that we ignore all differences and treat everyone as one homogenized lump, though. Paul, who penned the above lines, also wrote on how slaves should conduct themselves differently from free men (Eph 6:5-6).

In Galatians, Paul is showing that the value of each of those categories has been raised, for by believing in Christ that person becomes a child of God, no matter what their condition previously.
So, taking all of the above into account, the way we interpret the passage in 1 Timothy is that God created the world and its systems with an order to them.

He has divinely given the responsibility of authority for the church as an organized body to the man, just as the ultimate authority of the marriage relationship rests on the man.

This does not make the man superior, only placed in a different role than the woman. The best example of this I can think of is the tribes of ancient Israel. The Levites were chosen out of the twelve tribes to be the priests and to run the house of God, but this didn’t mean they were superior to any of the other tribes. That is just the position in which God placed them.

In the same way, men are to be the authority in the church. Women are allowed to teach other women, and instruct men. Even Timothy, the recipient of this epistle, was tutored by his mother and grandmother (2 Tim 1:5; 3:15).

God also commanded Abraham to listen to the council of his wife in Genesis 21:12. However, since the authority falls to the man, it is he who will be held accountable for improper decisions, such as also happened to Abraham when he followed bad advice from Sarah in Genesis 16.

So, the Bible is not against women at all. Just because each sex has a different role to play, doesn’t make one role more important than the other. Men are entrusted with leading the church. Women are entrusted with bearing children and providing them with a Godly and secure home life so they may become Godly adults making an impact on our society. I believe I can successfully argue that the responsibility placed on a mother is one of the most important in the world.

Sometimes our society glorifies position and career to the neglect of other weightier matters. Every person in the church has a role, and as is stated in 1 Corinthians 12, all positions become equally important to the mission of glorifying Christ and doing His will.
jeffd_57 | Feb 06, 2010

chrisitianity is NOT islam. Let’s get this straight.
Before God, men and women stand as equals.

Ga 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither MALE NOR FEMALE: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

also in the OT, God used women .. many .. to serve Him as His … prophetess.
do a search. Miriam, anna, huldah, etc etc

a prophet holds a higher office than a priest.

many preachers are preaching nonsense that women cannot preach or teach.
read the OT for yourself and you’ll discover the Truth.

your sons and daughters will prophesy …
preach the gospel to the world … a command to every christian, irregardless of gender.

woman originated from man
then woman produce man
all in all, they’re EQUAL.

if you still can’t see the truth, get stuck in these heresies that you’re brainwashed to follow.

Honey for 1 year old with cold?
Is it now ok for me to put a little honey in with my daughters milk now that she is over 12 months? She has a cold and cough and think her throat is sore. I thought maybe a dribble of honey in her milk might help soothe it.

Its completely safe, just make sure its the all natural kind. =-)

Ana | Feb 04, 2010

Hi, Please dont risk giving your baby honey. It can cause a very rare form of food poisoning called botulism, I repeat that this is rare but still I would never take the risk with my baby.
Also, current advice is that you should never put anything into your babies milk.
If you think your baby has a sore throat then why not visit a chemist & ask their advice? Im sure they would be able to supply you with something safe to give your baby. :-) Rocco's Mummy | Feb 04, 2010

Add a tiny piece of cinnamon in less then half cup boiling water.let it boil till the color changes and then add half teaspoon pure good quality honey to it.Since your daughter is just a year old she should be served with 4 or 5 teaspoon of this herbal medicine .It is ideal for ordinary colds and flue.Just make sure it is warm[not hot] enough for the soothing effect in throat.I think honey in milk is ideal specially in winters, though in certain cases too much honey can cause diarrhea.

American Splendor
American Splendor (2003)

IMDB rating: 7.70

Plot: Harvey Pekar is file clerk at the local VA hospital. His interactions with his co-workers offer some relief from the monotony, and their discussions encompass everything from music to the decline of American culture to new flavors of jellybeans and life itself. At home, Harvey fills his days with reading, writing and listening to jazz. His apartment is filled with thousands of books and LPs, and he regularly scours Cleveland’s thrift stores and garage sales for more, savoring the rare joy of a 25-cent find. It is at one of these junk sales that Harvey meets Robert Crumb, a greeting card artist and music enthusiast. When, years later, Crumb finds international success for his underground comics, the idea that comic books can be a valid art form for adults inspires Harvey to write his own brand of comic book. An admirer of naturalist writers like Theodore Dreiser, Harvey makes his American Splendor a truthful, unsentimental record of his working-class life, a warts-and-all self portrait. First published in 1976, the comic earns Harvey cult fame throughout the 1980s and eventually leads him to the sardonic Joyce Barber, a partner in a Delaware comic book store who end ups being Harvey’s true soul mate as they experience the bizarre byproducts of Harvey’s cult celebrity stature.

What do these lines in the poem mean?
The poem:

Washed in the blood of the brave and the blooming,
Snatched from the altars of insolent foes,
Burning with star-fires, but never consuming,
Flash its broad ribbons of lily and rose.

Vainly the prophets of Baal would rend it,
Vainly his worshipers pray for its fall;
Thousands have died for it, millions defend it,
Emblem of justice and mercy to all;

Justice that reddens the sky with her terrors,
Mercy that comes with her white-handed train,
Soothing all passions, redeeming all errors,
Sheathing the sabre and breaking the chain.

Borne on the deluge of all usurpations,
Drifted our Ark o’er the desolate seas,
Bearing the rainbow of hope to the nations,
Torn from the storm-cloud and flung to the breeze!

God bless the Flag and its loyal defenders,
While its broad folds o’er the battle-field wave,
Till the dim star-wreath rekindle its splendors,
Washed from its stains in the blood of the brave!

This is an American patriotic poem.

1)Snatched from the altars of insolent foes,

From Wiki: Many understand the flag to represent the national government established in the U.S. Constitution, the rights of the citizens promised in the Bill of Rights, and perhaps most of all to be a symbol of individual and personal liberty as set forth in the Declaration of Independence.

Does this mean that it refers to the American war of independence where the Americans declared independence from the British?

2)Mercy that comes with her white-handed train,

Does train mean aim in this sentence, so it refers to mercy bringing down her pure wrath?

3)Borne on the deluge of all usurpations,
Torn from the storm-cloud and flung to the breeze!

I don’t really understand these two lines, especially torn from the storm-cloud and flung to the breeze. Could anyone help?

I’m sorry if some of my understanding about the American War of Independence is wrong, as I am not American. Sorry =( Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please and thanks.

I’m not sure of the exact answer. I think this refers to the Statue of Liberty in acceptance of all that come to America. This is my thought.

Refer to Emma Lazarus and her poem on the Statue of Liberty.

Baal is a false God rendered in the bible. It seems the poet is challenging the false Gods of victory with that of the blessing of freedom and it’s victory for all that can be free. Victory the ‘Arc’
Joan of Arc died at the stake of by what she believed in.

We all believe in much..more history to follow.good luck.

MUJER CAIDA

?Nunca insulteis a la mujer caida!
Nadie sabe que peso la agobio,
ni cuantas luchas soporto en la vida,
?hasta que al fin cayo!
?Quien no ha visto mujeres sin aliento
asirse con afan a la virtud,
y resistir del vicio el duro viento
con serena actitud?
Gota de agua pendiente de una rama
que el viento agita y hace estremecer;

Thanks for you.

Jane believes that the blurs are actually spirit photography of the dead girl who they hit on the road, and that she may be seeking vengeance.

Whats the best 3D gaming setup for my PC?
So i recently broke my monitor and was looking into a new monitor setup. I started reading about 3D monitors and i was instantly hooked. Ive used the iz3d drivers before for the basic red and blue 3d glasses for many games.
Im now trying to figure out what i should go with. I was interested in the nvidia vision and iz3d monitor/s. Im hearing that iz3d has some ghosting problems, and the reflective screen is horrible. I was hearing ppl complaining about the nvidia vision shutter glasses causing eye strain or tiredness after 30-60 mins of use.
I was wondering if it was possible to use shutter glasses or even the nvidia shutter glasses with an iz3d monitor. No idea if that would do anything but some one was saying it could work somehow and they used it on a 3D ready DLP TV with the iz3d drivers.
But the basic flat out question im asking is, what do you guys recommend as the best 3D setup for my computer with the needs to run dual monitors?

Im running 2 nvidia 8800 GTs or GTXs i forget, but i can run any game atm no lag… ever. 4+ gigs DDR2 ram. A very nice dual core CPU and a very nice mother board. This thing has 11-12 fans, because of the case its in 8P. So running anything that slows down my pc shouldnt be a problem.
Thanks for your time and help. 8)
Thanks but i dont think youve researched this enough to back that up. Ive spent hours looking up info about this. The nvidia shutter glasses with any 3d monitor imo atm are not as good as the iz3d monitor with its passive polarized lenses. But if the two could be combined there might be some benefits to it. But im looking for an answer along the lines of. Oh you should just get iz3d, or i should wait for the iz3d 26" 1080p monitor. Or a combination of different things, or even some suggestion for something i should look into. Thanks for your time tho 8)

i think that Nvidia 3D vision comes with a monitor…..i think your best bet is to get the bundle and get a second 120 hz monitor

Hard to Kill
Hard to Kill (1990)

Los Angeles cop Mason Storm videotapes a meeting where Trent hires killers to kill his opponent so he won’t lose the election. When Mason’s cover is blown, he gets away temporarily, but when he calls in this information to his partner Kevin O’Malley, he is overheard by corrupt cops who work for Trent. On his way home, Mason stops at a liquor store to pick up some champagne to celebrate his undercover coup with his wife Felicia and his 5-year-old son Sonny. 5 thugs come into the store with guns and blow away the cashier, and Mason kills the thugs. At home, Mason tucks Sonny in, and Mason and Felicia open the champagne. The corrupt cops who overheard Storm’s call to Kevin go to Storm’s house and start firing their guns. Felicia is killed, and Sonny is missing and presumed dead. Mason himself, declared dead at the hospital, revives only to remain in a coma. Kevin enlists the help of a doctor to keep Mason’s survival a secret until he can recuperate and give information on his assailants. 7 years later, in 1990, Kevin has been forced off the LAPD, with Trent and his men now running the show. Mason is in a coma center under the alias of “John Doe,” and he’s being cared for by nurse Andrea “Andy” Stewart. Mason wakes up from his 7 year coma, and takes some time to recover. My Bff Thinks shes pregnant and is Punching her belly…..read on?
O.k so my bestie Thinks shes pregnant because she had unprotected sex with her boyfriend and she has tender breast and cramps while her period isn’t for another 2 weeks.
she called me crying saying she thinks she is pregnant and just punched her lower abdominal a couple of times really hard and dons’t feel so well.
I talked to her for hours and calmed her down telling her that she isn’t the first teen to get pregnant and all that kind of crap.
and now she is worried becuase she is sacred that if she is pregnant that she might have hurt the baby by punching it.

so my question is Do you think she killed or harmed the baby by punching the lower abdominal??

and please dont even bother with the mean comments cause i didn’t write this to get mean comment but just to get answers.

yup poor baby is screwed

if her period is not due for another two weeks she is not pregnant..
Sica is 6wks with #3 | Feb 02, 2010

If she is pregnant all she did was punch herself in the stomach! The baby is small and still behind her pelvic bone so no she didn’t hurt it.(if she is pregnant) She needs to talk to her parents and let them help her through it. She will need you too. Please tell her that hurting herself and trying to hurt the baby wont help the situation. Good luck!
ITS A GIRL!!!!!!! | Feb 02, 2010

tell your friend she is a dumbass.she needs to keep her freakin legs closed if she doesnt want a baby
sept12,2010 | Feb 02, 2010

she could have harmed her baby, but she may have not either. her period isnt for another 2 weeks so she needs to stop freaking out until she misses her period. you can have sore breasts and cramps from your period 2 weeks before you start. if she does miss her period then she needs to take a test, if it comes out positive she needs to make an appointment with the doctor then and see if the baby is harmed. but i would say its just her period and she is not pregnant
~*~AsHiEs~*~AuNt~*~ | Feb 02, 2010

She wouldnt be able to tell if she was pregnant or not already. There is no way that her hormones could change because of pregnancy this early. If she really is worried about it, she needs to wait those 2 weeks and do everything right that she can, because if there is a baby in there, she could have really messed that baby up. She needs to take care of herself, because even if she doesnt want a baby, someone else might, and adoption is always an option for her. You just need to let her know that you are there for her until she finds out. Because even though there are lots of other things that can cause those specific symptoms, there is still a chance that she is pregnant.
pretty_in_pain07 | Feb 02, 2010

First off all if she isn’t due to get her period for another two weeks then she is just psyching herself out.. because she had the unprotected sex that’s probably all she can think about. And if she is pregnant, punching her stomach isn’t going to make the whole situation go away. Depending on how long ago she had the unprotected sex she could go somewhere like Planned Parent Hood and get the pill plan B. If it is too late, I would tell her to wait until she is due for her period and if she is late to see her OBGYN or go to Planned Parent Hood and see her whether she even is pregnant and see her options. But from the sounds of it, she’s irresponsible and shouldn’t be having sex at all because even if you suspected that you were pregnant (which it sounds too early to be suspecting that anyways) the last thing to do would be punching your stomach. You shouldn’t be having sex if you aren’t ready to deal with the consequences that could come with it.
Joshua | Feb 02, 2010

When did she have unprotected sex? If it was 72 hours ago or less then she can take the morning after pill, available from her GP, a chemist or family planning centre.

If her period is not due for another two weeks then she wouldn’t be experiencing pregnancy symptoms yet, most women don’t get tender breasts etc till after their missed period. Chances are, unless the unprotected sex was less than three days ago she’s not even pregnant as her fertile period should be about now.

Good luck to her. x

She needs some help, If she is and is not very far along i am sure she didnt hurt it, but my neighbor was 6 month pregnant ad jumped (purposly) off a chair onto the floor on her stomache, and totally brain damaged the child, he was born and at 6 yrs old was still in size 9 months, and died at 6 yrs old, no child deserves to suffer bc their parents cant keep their legs closed. She needs to tell her parents if shemisses her period.

If her eriod isnt due for 2 weeks she is not pregnant
??Mami of Hayzea & Cruz?? | Feb 02, 2010

I highly doubt she is pregnant, just b/c her period isn’t due for a couple weeks. A woman ovulates appx from 11 days after the first day of her last period to 15 days after her last period. When did she have the unprotected sex with her bf after her period? If it was just a couple days probably not, if it was almost a week and half to two weeks after there’s a chance. If she did harm the baby or ‘killed’ the baby, I’m pretty sure she would be bleeding as her body is getting rid of it. One thing, and I’m sorry if you take this as being mean b/c I’m not meaning it that way, what in the heck would possess someone to punch themselves in the stomach if they thought they might be pregnant, then get all upset she might have hurt the baby, is she just wanting attention?

Would you be honest enough to say what you really think at someone's funeral?
Years ago i met a family , the mother was lovely the kids fine but the father was a real sod, hit the mother, he used to come home drunk with some guys he met at the pub and then force the old lady to kiss them, when she refused he’d hit her in the ribs so she often had broken ribs.
Anyway this horrible man died. Do you know not one person said he was a lowdown rubbish, they all said he was so kind, so sweet, i was the only one who said what i really thought about him and they did not appreciate it. Do you think saying nice things about a sod once he has pegged it will pave his way to the large garden in the sky. I don’t thiiiinnnkkkk soooo. What is your opinion.

Putting it bluntly he sounded a twat and died a twat end of, literally for him!!!

why attend his funeral
nothing good to say

Robert C | Aug 21, 2007

What would it accomplish other than hurting his family who you don’t really have a beef with anyway.
alwaysmoose | Aug 21, 2007

Why did you go to the man’s funeral if you didn’t like him? If you went for the family then you should just be quiet I really don’t think they want to hear bad things about him right at this time.
silkstockings00 | Aug 21, 2007

I think theres a time and place.
If you cant say anything nice, say nowt.
Steph j | Aug 21, 2007

I agree with silkstockings I wouldn’t have gone. You can make your feelings known if people ask you why you didn’t .
luke n | Aug 21, 2007

i wouldn’t have gone.
Stone island | Aug 21, 2007

if i really hated him or her then i probably wouldnt go. I think the funeral is as much for the family to come together and grieve at their loss, and even though he maybe a total monster, sometimes families may find it easier to see him as a good person really who was just troubled etc. Grief does make people see things diffrent and maybe the family thought it was some sort of closure. Funerals are bad enough at the best of times anyway, and emotions run high and things get said. I would just keep away if i thought i would say something which maybe wasnt welcomed. My nan always said once someone has died, whatever wrongs they did in the world, they have to face the big man in the sky. Maybe a funeral was the wrong place to say it, but then again, i can see why you shouldn’t go and say he was a gent if he was not.
2plus3 | Aug 21, 2007

if you dont like someone you dont go to the funeral
shirley v | Aug 21, 2007

No, it would be very rude.
If I didn’t like the person I wouldn’t attend the funeral.
That guy might have been an horrible person but I bet you there will be people who will miss him a lot and to say nasty things about him on the last chance people have to say goodbye is just wrong.
Liadan | Aug 21, 2007

Dear me, I hope you didn’t get up and say a eulogy. LOL

No, saying nice things about a mean person will not determine his fate at the big gate.
I’m assuming that you attended the funeral because you liked his family. I know, it is difficult to hear all those mushy nice things that people say to describe a person that was anything but nice, but everyone that knew him was aware that you spoke the truth. It just wasn’t a good time or place to to bring up.
kana121569 | Aug 21, 2007

100% correct. I’ve done exactly the same thing. I’d no choice - I had to go to the funeral. But there were a few people there who used to talk about this guy and then when he snuffed it, he was suddenly a different person. Not on your life - I said what I’d said when he was alive - and I’d also said it to his face so I wasn’t being hypocritical either. Once a bastard always a bastard - death doesn’t change things!

my step father is all you said and more when he dies it will be a nice day for me, a kind of release, but i wouldnt attend his funeral, i hate him so much
verbalkint | Aug 22, 2007

I just wouldn’t go.

I hate this fascination some people have with going to every funeral they can - they are a thing I avoid at all costs to be honest.

I think they are personal things and I would be annoyed if people that didn’t even like me, just knew me, turned up!
Heather mk2 | Aug 22, 2007

It seems to me you were more concerned with parading your self styled honesty like a badge of courage then being concerned with the family of the deceased. People who claim the moral high ground by claiming to be "honest" do not usually stand up to scrutiny and I find that their "honesty" is used only when adventageous or convienient for them. You can never know the real story behind peoples lives, and I would be careful about sitting in judgement of others. I wonder what people will say at your funeral.

Was it a mistake for the GOP to let the cameras roll?
GOP aides telling me it was a mistake to allow cameras into Obama’s QA with GOP members. Allowed BO to refute GOP for 1.5 hours on TV
-Luke Russert

Late Thursday night, just hours before Obama?s appearance, an Obama staffer called Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) with a request: Would the GOP leadership mind if the press was allowed to remain during the Q-and-A?

Sources say that Republicans immediately realized the perils of giving Obama such a platform but had little choice but to say yes.

After all, they have been hammering him for failing to televise all health reform negotiations. Obama admitted Friday that it was a mistake, adding, ?I take responsibility.?

"Perhaps the most telling aspect of the speech reactions," writes David Weigel at the Washington Independent, is that "Fox News, alone among cable networks, cut away mid-broadcast and went to a newsless interview with Rep. Peter King (R-NY)."
How did he tie his own noose? Did you watch? He wasn’t disrespectful.
I don’t think you watched it JC.

No. Trust me, the American people needed to see Obama act the way he did. Obama and Rahm Emanuel probably think it’s cool to act like that as leaders of our country — decent Americans aren’t going to be pleased. Especially after how he publicly humiliated the Supreme Court Justices in the SOTU address.
sophie | Jan 30, 2010

Obama tied his own noose today in front of those rolling cameras, and the higher you guys prop him up, the farther he’s going to have to fall when the bottom finally drops out of it.
El Tecolote | Jan 30, 2010

No it wasn’t a mistake. The GOP needed to be exposed for the a_holes that they are. They are so close-minded and think they are so right that they can’t even see how out of touch they are.
Corwin B | Jan 30, 2010

No, it confirmed that Obama is a whiney, insecure, petulent lightweight. He even got owned by a freshman congressman from Utah.

Obama ended up looking like a mental patient in denial; a teenager-in-chief. He reminds me of that left-wing loner way back in college that snivelled in the back of Politics 101.
J.C. Grant | Jan 30, 2010

Yes, it was a huge political mistake. They knew that, and that is why FOX was the only network to cut the cameras. It’s pretty hard to keep up their lies when the President is proving they’re lying. Shedding light on things is the best way to dispel the lies, so this was a great triumph for the Democrats. That’s why FOX cut the light. Hehehehe. Gotta love it!

Anyone who thinks that Obama destroyed his credibility today is highly blinded by conservative propaganda. Obama did the best thing in the world today. He had the opportunity to refute republican claims as they were made. He made republicans look like the immature ones. If the GOP doesn’t start compromising now, the American people, at least the ones that aren’t psychotic or racist, will see the republicans for what they are…career politicians, whose only concerns are to get re-elected.

all obama needed was a little makeup… and his clown suit wud be perfect… obama called the supreme court stupid… and made up charges that were lies… why wud anyone want to listen to a liar … my fear is that someone will really think obama can tell the truth…

To bad, now they can’t say no to future events like this. Everyone will see them as cowardly if they do. Plus they wanted an open and televised session, that’s what they got. What are they going to do, say no we were wrong.
