Care to interpret a dream I had the other night?
I wake up to cure my liquor parched throat.
There’s a millipede on my floor, but he’s got uncanny speed and I can’t kill him.
I go ask my Dad for help but he’s so vexed because he got hit with 12,000 volts of electricity. Those were his words.
So, too much chaos in the house. I put on my parka and gloves, go walk around in the sleet, end up by the on-ramps.
I decide I’ll walk to Maine. It takes me only a few hours and it’s 90 degrees and humid when I arrive in the little town of Starks, which is a pathetic little lot of cornfields, quadrisected by two scarce roads.
I press on through some baseball fields and see a family of homely locals in tattered duds playing a sad little game. A pop fly headed my way so I wanna make a bare-handed play on it but fell well short. This mortified me. The eldest son, a severe and chunky redhead also wanted to, and most likely could have, made the same play. I told him in a jovial manner that I was sorry. Something like "my bad". But he didn’t care for that at all, and replied with "yeah, it is your bad, b***h", with a lot of emphasis on the obscenity. I gave up and walked away when I noticed the rest of his family was fairly staring me down.
Then there came an old-fashioned drug store. But behind the dusty counters and busted walls there were futuristic instruments and young fascistic men with stern looks, apparently readying themselves for some enormous takeover. I leave there confused, then see strange people (mostly elderly) stepping off blue buses.
My dream ended when I realized I could not find my way out of the lot of municipal buildings. They looked more like summer camp cafeterias than government posts.
