What point of the Patriots-Colts rivalry do you think it really reached its peak?
To me it was either one of 2 games.

The 2005 Week 9 regular season game in Foxboro when the Colts finally beat the Pats and won in Foxboro 40-21.

But I’ll say it really got heated up during the 2006 AFC Championship Game. The Colts had lost a ton of heartbreakers to the Patriots and finally returned the favor in a big way coming back down 21-3. The Colts had finally played physical and hit the Patriots in the mouth the way the Patriots hit the Colts in the mouth the previous few seasons. The rivalry intensied to it’s peak at that moment when the Colts knew how to become a Super Bowl Champion Football team that year. Thats when the hype started to increase for every matchup they faced and the Colts had shown they can hang with the Pats

What point of the Patriots-Colts rivalry do you think it really reached its peak?

I would say the AFC Championship Game was the best in this rivalry for the following reasons:

1. Winner goes to SuperBowl. Enough said here!
2. The Colts has been close in the years before, and guess who ended their season every time? The New England Patriots. All those times they lost in FoxBorough, this was the game that they got the chance to play in their own house, I’m pretty sure everyone in that locker room has this thought in their heads "If we don’t beat New England right now, we might never do it ever again".
3. The way the game turned out. I watched every single second of that game, and I screamed my lung out in the first half when New England jumped to a 21 - 3 lead. I was like "Oh no, not again". And when Marlin Jackson made that INT, I actually couldn’t believe it. That’s how great the game was. One of the best AFC Championship game I’ve ever seen.

as long as Manning/Brady are playing

Brady & Manning have alot of good years left in them….. while that may have been a turning point or a point where the rivalry wasn’t so one-sided…… i don’t think it has peaked, YET

I gotta say it was either the 2006 AFC Champ. game

Or maybe the 2003 game in indy(they showed it on NFL network) where the Pats stopped the Colts late to win

or this game i didnt see the game but judgin by the score and what a friend told me it must have been a pretty good game.

Each team has lost some of their stars that I think has made this rivalry special as of late, but both franchises have continued to do well regardless of what players have come and gone. And as long as they have what are arguably the two best quarterbacks in the NFL today, they are bound to have more memorable games. While other teams have had 1-2 great years and fallen, the Colts and Pats are still going on strong. If they have already reached their peak, I don’t think they have fallen off much if at all.

As long as Peyton and Brady are still in the NFL then the rivalry is still going on. I have a feeling that Peyton is the better QB because of his skills and his ability to read the defense and change plays on short notice, while Brady only has his arm. As long as this is the case, brady will keep trying to prove himself above Peyton, and as long as that happens, the rivalry is on.

Of course with that recent win, it only spurs on the rivalry and I can’t wait for a possible playoff meeting between the Colts and the patriots.

GO COLTS!

The Irony is, in most of the matchups the "better team" usually has lost. Last night not withstanding.

I think it just reached it peak last night. Both teams showed they are most likely the two best offenses in the leauge still and can do anything it takes to win a game. For this one to come down to an inch makes me think Peyton Manning or Tom Brady could each win another ring or more the way they draft and keep their teams at the top each season. It would take one of them to retire before they aren’t in the playoff mix.

I would agree with the 2006 AFC Title game — it really wasn’t a rivalry prior to that because NE owned them to that point; it all really shifted there- though the 07 Pats did win 24-20 in Indy and went on to 16-0; the Colts showed they could beat them and win it all.
