WHALE RIDER HELP PLEASE!?
i need help with these questions for my assignment on the movie "whale rider"
Paikea and her father in the waka (the boat).
1.* Where has Pourangi been?
2.* In what way have they both ?failed? Koro?
3.With whom do your sympathies lie and why?
4.According to Porourangi, Koro is ?looking for something that doesn?t exist anymore?. What is Koro looking for?
1. I assumed the Pourourangi returned to Germany to be with his girlfriend.
2. Pai failed Koro because she was not a boy, and her father failed in that he did not want to be a chief and carry on his father’s line. Koro wanted his son to be a traditional chief, and when that didn’t happen, he was hoping for a grandson.
3. I definitely sympathize with Pai and Pourourangi, but I also feel for Rawiri as the second son. He was a very good-hearted man, and it was sad that Koro was so obsessed with his plans for carrying on traditions that he didn’t even see how kind and unappreciated Rawiri was.
4. I believe Pourourangi meant the Koro was desperately holding onto the old traditions that simply couldn’t be adhered to anymore. He was looking for a male child to carry on sole responsibility for their people, and was trying to keep their culture alive.
