Pros and cons of circumcision?
I am 19 years old and was recently circumcised for medical reasons here in the UK. It was something i suspected may be necessary for a while but was very reluctent i asked if there were any alternatives but in my specific case the consultant explained this was the best possible course of treatment.
So on 18/01/10 i was circumcised. 11 days later and i can see my skin is starting to heal… its not looking great down there with the stitches etc and it does bleed but its getting better, but there is one thing i am worried about, its very shallow i know but as a man it does mean a lot to me and i hope people cn appreciate i dont want to offend here this is a genuine question i am very worried about… its about masturbation. If i am being completely honest, my personality and my appearance isnt great. I dont want sympathy when i say this but my point is i doubt i will be having sex - for a long time anyway so my question is only about masturbation.
I do masturbate like every other man and i worry how the circumcision is going to chnge this. I keep waking up with erections as i havent masturbated for 11 days which does cause a lot fo pain and bleeding at the moment.
My first question is … how long do i have to wait before i can masturbate.
My second question is … how is the circumcision going to affect this. I read a lot on the internet now about how it is just ‘boring’ following this operation and how it doesnt feel nice and that i will totally lose my sex drive and it may seem silly but this really does upset me thinking i will never enjoy ‘pleasure’ ever again for the rest of my life. At the moment i cant even touch the head of my penis without twinging.
I just want some advice on how things are going to be different from now on… truthful advice and whether the myths that float around are true.
ok first off im circumcised. and you might want to wait till you are all healed up to masturbate again. and when you do you WILL need lube seeing how you have always had foreskin to help out with the friction problem. without the lube your head will be very very sensitive to the touch and with erections. other than that all the other stuff either hasnt happened to me or i havent put myself in that situation.
hope this helps you out

Your Answer:
Don’t get the stitches wet when bathing. Keep the area clean with Baby Wipes or Wet Wipes. If stitches get wet, they might dissolve too soon & cause problems. It takes a full 6 weeks to heal completely. No sports & no sexual activity for the entire 6 weeks. Don’t wear tight jeans. I had it done 6 months ago & everything went well. Mine was almost healed in 4 weeks & completely healed in 6 weeks. The more AIR that gets to the area, the better & quicker it will heal. In my case, sex it even better than before & the sensitivity is more enhanced. Just be sure to use plenty of lube when masturbating. Even after the 6 weeks healing time is over, there will still be a little ‘tenderness’ - so don’t beat that sucker to death. Take it slow & easy & enjoy the feelings.

4-6 weeks is usual healing time for skin/tissue injuries on your penis.
Masturbating will be different in many respects, depending on how they cut you and how much (if any) skin is left.
Cut guys who have some skin are still able to pull the skin up to the ridge of the head. This lets them toss one with out lube. Many cut guys use lube though to prevent bad friction, and also to moisten and soften the head skin for better sensitivity. Being freshly cut (after you heal) and jumping right in with lube maybe a bit of a bad experience. If you have never used lube, and only foreskin, your head may be sensitive to touch still.
Depending on the heal time, and your commitment, you always have the option of non-surgical restoration. You’d be able to get back some of what you lost, but only function-wise.
Your head is going to be sensitive to the harsh conditions outside of being lovingly wrapped by a foreskin, so you may want to apply lotion(s) to your head to help it adjust to being exposed, and to keep it from drying out and becoming calloused. I recommend Eucerin, if you have that brand in the UK.
Truthfully, you aren’t going to feel as much sensation as you once did with the skin. Now you will only have sensation in the head of your penis. And that may diminish overtime by it getting desensitized from rubbing on everything.
Not getting it up is almost always because of 2 reasons. Either over-stimulation, or psychological issues. Time usually solves the first one. Therapy, or just a good outlook, solves the second.
Hope that helps, and I am truly sorry for your loss.

Circumcised "for medical reasons?"
There is never a necessity for circumcision. There are other treatments for problems with the foreskin than the radical mutilation of circumcision.
If the doctor didn’t recommend any other treatments, he’s biased. Possibly by his religion.
And of course masturbation will be affected by circumcision. The enjoyment of sex and masturbation is reduced by mutilating the penis. That’s why circumcision was used during the Victorian period to try to prevent males from masturbating.
That’s why more than 200,000 males (myself included) are restoring our foreskins, to regain some of the sensitivity/function destroyed by the mutilation and damage that is circumcision. It won’t repair the permanent neural and vascular damage, but it does vastly improve sexual feeling and ability.
I live in the USA, where it was common to force circumcision on infants, and about 50% of males are still mutilated as infants here. Most males in the UK are not circumcised, they don’t usually mutilate male infants in most of the world
At least you had a choice, even if you made the wrong one.
Circumcision is a fraud and a hoax.
A foreskin is not a birth defect; it is a birthright.

4-6 weeks is the general rule, with 6 weeks the preferred waiting time. Stop reading the anti BS! I was circumcised at 18 and can assure you it is far superior to being uncut. There is no loss of sensitivity and it is not mutilation. It is cleaner (uncircumcised can wash 3x a day and still have odor), it is healthier (one reason the World Health Organization and soon the Centers for Disease Control will recommend circumcision for all males), it is better looking (do you really want an anteater between your legs) and it improves sexual function. Uncircumcised guys have no clue what they are missing! I had no hesitation to have my boys (5,3, 8mo) circumcised, because I know there is no downside, but there is a lifetime of benefits to be had. There is nothing good about being uncircumcised.

It’s best to wait a full 6 weeks before masturbating. That way nothing happens to the stitches, wound or scar tissue.
In my personal exsperience feeling both sides circumcision removes a lot of sensitivity and things aren’t as good afterwords. They are still enjoyable somewhat just not nearly as much as with a foreskin.
Circumcision does reduce sensitivity, that’s just a simple fact.
Some men find the senstivity loss to not be a big deal and others dispise it.

Congratulations on your circumcision. Whatever problem you had has now been resolved. Masturbation requires a little care for the next few weeks until the area has settled down and it would be best if you use a lubricant.
I don’t know why you are so negative about yourself and think that is the only form of sexual activity you will ever have, This seems a much more serious issue to me. Develop your character and personality and you may find that sex is no longer a solo activity. Most women could not give a damn whether you are circumcised or not - they are interested in you, not your surgical history.

Well, you are the fool for having had your penis mutilated. I have no idea how long you should wait. It is your fault if you have the expected future complications of circumcision.
I really do not have any sympathy for you. Why dont you listen instead to those wackos like SteveX and others who actually seem to think that circumcision is a good idea!

Firstly, it’s really too bad you were circumcised. I wish you’d come here BEFORE you got circumcised - that way we might have been able to tell you your options. Many doctors, even in England, simply don’t learn of the alternatives to circumcision. There’s usually no real reason for being circumcised. But we’re beyond that now - it’s not like you can go back and get it sewn back on. What’s done is done.
I’m not going to sugar coat it. There will be a loss of sensation. It won’t seem so at first, as it takes months or years for the glans to lose sensitivity, and at first it’s going to seem super-sensitive because it’s lost its protective covering. After a while though, you may notice that, along with the loss of the foreskin (which carried 20,000 nerve endings), the glans will lose sensitivity as it toughens up due to coming into contact with clothing etc. Most circumcised men can still enjoy sex, though they need to work at it a bit harder (which can be painful for their partners). However, some more unfortunate men suffer from greater levels of sensitivity loss - some cannot even get an erection.
Hopefully, you will not suffer too badly from your loss. If you do, there are options - Viagra can help you sustain an erection, and if that’s still not enough you can always try foreskin restoration: many victims of circumcision say it brings back a lot of sensitivity that was lost in the glans. Of course foreskin restoration can never fully restore feeling to the pre-circumcision level - the foreskin, with its 20,000 nerve endings, is gone forever.
Most likely, your experience will not be too bad. Most circumcised men find they can still enjoy sex to a great degree.
Good luck!

All of my stitches fell out by day fourteen and everything was back to working condition by day thirty. You might want to use a water soluble lubricant like K-Y Jelly the first few times. The only difference I found is that sex is a little more sensuous. Otherwise, everything is the same.
